BACB awarded the participants in the national round of the European Statistics Olympiad

“With heartfelt wishes towards the young people to love the numbers and to succeed in life”. With these words, the chairman of the Management Boardof BACB Vasil Simov gave the award to the winners in the national round of the European Statistics Olympiad. This is the third year in a row that the bank has supported the initiative.

The entry requirements for the tournament were that pupils from 8th to 12th grade can participate. It is a team competition in which each team is made up of one to three students from the same school and in the same age category. Each group must have a mentor from that school who will accompany and watch over the team’s work and there are no limits to the number of teams from each school.

The competition had two rounds. In the first one, the pupils had to show basic knowledge of statistics, handling statistical data received from official sources and interpreting statistical results. In the second round of the contest, the participants had to draw up an analysis of statistical data based on a given subject. The winning team received a monetary award from BACB for the sum of 300 to 600 leva for each of the members.

For us it is important for the young people to be motivated in reaching their goals and to grow up into successful individuals. Congratulations to the winners!
